5th-8th grade students at St. James School in Sewickley participated in Catholic Schools Week (Jan 29th - Feb 4th) with their annual service project aimed at primarily supporting front-line service workers. More than 1000 individual treat bags were filled with nutrition bars and snacks, many containing a handwritten thank you note.
Some of the sites where the bags were distributed include: Sewickley Police and Fire Departments, nursing units at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital, Valley Ambulance, Quaker Valley EMS, Moon Township Police Department, Coraopolis Police Department, Ohio Township Police Department, Pittsburgh International Airport Fire Department, Crescent Township Police Department, Robinson Township EMS, and the region's only Catholic Hospital, UPMC Mercy.
Thanks to a surplus of donations for the project from families, many items were also donated to the Divine Redeemer Food Pantry. Thank you to all of our area first responders and healthcare workers for keeping our communities safe, healthy, and strong. You are appreciated!
